Using a psd file that contains a Smart Object

I bought a psd file--Watercolor Creator--to make my photos look like watercolours. It was for Photoshop but since Affinity opens PSD files I thought it would work. Once I downloaded it and got the instructions, I saw that it is based on a Smart Object. I've been playing around with it trying to make it work in Affinity Photo on a PC but haven't been successful. Is there anything I can do to make this work?

Welcome to Affinity Forums
Affinity apps currently don't support smart objects - they are rasterised on import. It may be possible to work around or somehow recreate the effect in Affinity but without any reference image or link to the product page is difficult to advise you better.

I will look for some watercolour videos on YouTube. Maybe I can find an effect I like and figure out how to do it in Affinity Photo. I've seen the watercolour effect in other programs but haven't liked any as much as I saw in the examples for this program.
