I would use a Curve Adjustment on the image you're trying to blend into the background and then use the Picker option to select areas that need adjusting.

 

I'm sure other users will share their fav method of colour matching :)

At the moment, no. Sorry! You could always suggest the Auto Color Correction/Find Dark & Light Colors options in the Feature Request section.
