adding a Arrowheads to a line changes box size

Recommended Posts

See attached .afdesign file. Each icon on the canvas is 38 x 28 px.

Selecting pano1 and exporting it via "File > Export..." , either as a PNG or a JPG, generates an image 59 x 43 px.

Now do the same with pano2, which is a copy of pano1 but without arrowhead. Designer in this case generates an image 39 x 29 px. Still 1px too large, but pretty close.

The only way to get the correct size after exporting is to make the box size much larger but to leave the arrows at their original size - which is precisely what I don't need.

It always happens so it's reproducible. I am using the latest MacOS version and the latest Designer version.

This looks like a bug with the bounding boxes for the lines which are larger than the lines themselves and way larger when arrow heads are added to the lines. I'm assuming this must have been picked up and reported as a bug already though I've not checked.

Two options, if simply using File > Export then make the canvas size 38 x 28px and position each 'graphic' at X: 0, Y: 0, then export each and they will export at the correct size. The reason you are getting 39 x 29px is because of the sub pixel placement of the graphics, e.g. X: 21.57px, Y: 11.34px. If placed at integer values for both X and Y coordinates they will export correctly.

If using the Export Persona and exporting as slices, again position both graphics at full integer X and Y coordinates, select the background rectangle for each graphic and use that to create your slice, then once exported both will appear at 38 x 28px.

Assume the dev team are already looking into the bounding box issue but not 100% sure?
