I'm just starting out with Affinity and photography in general.  I have a Mac desktop at home and a windows laptop for travel.  Do I need to have a purchased copy of Affinity for each device and is there a way to transfer images back and forth?

Yes, you would have to purchase licenses for each platform (Mac & Windows). However, either version can open files created on the other platform without the need of conversion & with no data loss (the native file format is the same for all apps & platforms).
