Product key on a second device

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I would like to purchase Affinity Designer for Windows (only private use), nevertheless my Laptop is pretty old already and I will need to change it during the next months.

My question is if I can install it again on the new laptop (also Windows)? Or would I need to purchase a new license?

Thank you!

@Elela

Welcome to the Affinity forums.

Once you have made the initial purchase you will not need to pay again to install the software on a new computer which you own/control.  You will simply need to redownload the software, either from the Windows Store of from the Serif Store, depending where you chose to buy it originally. Just be aware that you cannot buy from the Windows Store and then transfer your account to the Serif Store, or vice versa.  The two purchase routes are entirely separate and have no connection with each other although, clearly (I hope) the actual software is the same!

I was wondering something similar. Purchased all three applications today for Windows Desktop and may at some point get an MS Surface. Will that device need another license for each application or can my Windows purchases be used on two Windows machines ? Can't really find anything in the License file included.

Did you purchase from the Serif Affinity Store or the Windows Store?

Some Surface machines run Windows 10S, which (I believe) is restricted to running applications that were purchased from the Windows Store. So if you get a Surface, and you purchased directly from Serif, and the Surface runs Windows 10S, you would need to upgrade it to Windows 10 Pro. Other than that, as long as you own both machines, and no one other than you uses the products commercially, you would be fine installing on multiple Windows machines.

Note, by the way, that the Affinity products on Windows really don't have any specific tablet support. So running them on a Surface won't give you a tailored experience like iPad users get.

Hi there! Sorry for reviving a necro thread, but I recently upgraded my machine to Win 10 and faced a similar issue. I wonder what I can do?

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Please describe the problem you're having in more detail. Where you started, what you did to upgrade, and then what you're trying to do with the Affinity application(s). We will also need to know which version of the application(s) you have, and where you purchased from.
