How to create one image from parts of two photos

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have been trying to combine parts of photos together to make one image..."photoshop it". Sorry for the reference but I am having a hard time explaining it quickly otherwise.  Even just knowing which tutorial video to watch would be helpful.  I am an experienced user but haven't a real need for this option, now I am curious if Affinity can make this happen for me.  I can stack photos and place a whole photo on top of another and edit both layers, but this using one part of a photo and placing it into or onto another one escapes me.

Thank you!

Check the layers are (Pixel) layers, it should say so, it might say (Image) if so you will need to rasterise the layer by right-clicking and choosing Rasterise. Once that's done you can edit the layers to make your composite masterpiece.

You can erase the bits you don't want from a layer, make a selection and copy/paste to a new layer, most of the stuff you could do in PS you can do in Affinity Photo.

As for tutorials, take your pick: https://affinity.serif.com/en-gb/tutorials/photo/desktop/

Rasterisation is not needed if you just mask (which is the recommended way of removing unwanted parts of image), scale and rotate image to make it fit the lower layer in layer stack. Also adjustment and filter layers do not need target layer rasterisation to work. In simple cases you can combine two photos this way nondestructively. If you need to paint, clone or inpaint image it needs to rasterise first – sometimes AP does this automatically.
