How do copy/delete a curve segments?

Recommended Posts

  1. Say I have a curve consisting of 5 nodes.
  2. I select 2 of them in sequence and press copy.
  3. Now when I paste, I expect a line segment to be pasted... but no, the entire object the selection was a part of gets pasted.

How do I copy and paste just the selected curve segment?

Second question, what if I instead wanted to delete that curve segment? I can delete nodes, but the curve doesn't openup , it fills in instead.

The nodes are just points along the series from 1st to last that define an area. In and of themselves, only the 1st and last necessary. So copying a portion get the whole thing.

If just a section is needed, duplicate the curve, and, using the node tool, break the nodes where needed. That fragments the duplicate line. The unwanted parts can be discarded.
