All Media Lab Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 Hi, Try to save an custom crop preset but the link "create preset" is grayed out. How do I solve this? Regards & Thanks, David Quote
R C-R Posted July 17, 2019 Posted July 17, 2019 You can only create Custom Ratio or Absolute Size crop presets. Annoyingly, for Custom Ratio ones you cannot create the reciprocal of a existing one. IOW, because there is a built-in 5 : 4 custom ratio preset you can't add a 4 : 5 one. Apparently, this is because the smaller number always appears first in the context toolbar ratio fields ... or something. All Media Lab Posted July 17, 2019 Author Posted July 17, 2019 Thanks for that!!! This kept me busy for hours I was under the impression that I did something wrong. Hope it's solved soon. Quote
Staff MEB Posted July 17, 2019 Staff Posted July 17, 2019 Hi All Media Lab, Create just one of the presets (if there isn't one already) for example 4:5. Whenever you need the opposite (i.e 5:4), click the Rotate button in the context toolbar to switch the orientation. Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

Whenever you need the opposite (i.e 5:4), click the Rotate button in the context toolbar to switch the orientation. Since that involves two steps (one to choose the preset & a second one to rotate it), it would be nice if we could create the reciprocal preset to eliminate the extra rotate step. Also, it is confusing & annoying that the builtin preset names begin with the larger number (like 10" x 8" [8R] or 16 : 10) but in the context toolbar they begin with the smaller number & that is always used for the width, which means the crop box often initially extends far outside the document edges & we have to zoom out to grab a handle. Frank M Posted July 20, 2019 Posted July 20, 2019 I had the same problem. I wanted to crop 7x5, but couldn't create a preset because 5x7 already existed. I simply created a 14x10 crop and named the preset 7 x 5. That worked. walt.farrell and MEB 2 Quote
