madonnaragu
I was so happy to see this finally added. Yay! But the preview is quite basic. We need more granular export and preview options. Like 👇 k_au
Medical Officer Bones
The current preview is not there yet. Developers call this a MVP - Minimal Viable Product. Read up on it here: https://blog.crisp.se/2016/01/25/henrikkniberg/making-sense-of-mvp To use that analogy: users ask for a flying DeLorean, but get a hover board first. It kinda works, users won't exactly be happy about it, but at least it is a functional initial implementation. To me this Preview option in the Export Settings is rather more comparable to a regular skateboard with wheels - barely functional, but it will appease users to wait for the next stage of implementation. Not "quite there yet". At least it's a start, and hopefully by version 2.0 the export persona will have been updated with similar controls as @madonnaragu would like to see (and the rest of us). We will just have to be patient until the devs get to the flying DeLorean stage In the meantime, use ColorQuantizer for near-perfect PNG optimization and more bells and whistles and control than any other software, free or paid! http://x128.ho.ua/color-quantizer.html Alfred

It is so rudimentary, that I assume it cannot be anything else BUT a first version. I am quite happy with many of the other improvements, though, in both Photo and Publisher. Haven't looked at Designer yet, because I hardly use it in my work or personally.

The only problem is that it looks that this feature has been in the works for years now, so how many more years will it take to get a proper, professional export preview? At least they added it now - not having one was impossible to work with. If you followed the link I provided one employee from Serif said: Quote Hi Jowday, the Export Preview is just an added perk to the File > Export dialog which is essentially a 'quick export' feature. Its sole purpose is to give you a quick idea of what the export will be like without the complexity of entering the Export Persona to really fine-tune your export. Whilst I agree that a few contexual improvements would be beneficial, it is not meant to be comprehensive or feature-packed. It's likely that this will receive some improvements in the future but we want to focus on the Export Persona which is essentially the equivelant of the export preview seen in sday, PS. So it is very difficult to tell where the UI is heading. How will export preview evolve, how will the export persona evolve. Will they be merged one day. Will they look and work like today for years. Purchase now what you need now. Quote "The user interface is supposed to work for me - I am not supposed to work for the user interface." toonman00
I just started using AP and I discovered something in the preview I suspect everyone already knows about. When you select "Preview" the image is tiny, you can resize the preview borders but the image stays tiny, then when you click "More" you can make changes or no changes and then close, the preview now fills the box you resized. madonnaragu
That's great, but I honestly can NOT use Affinity until there's a proper export preview, like in Photoshop/Fireworks.
