1.7.2.424 Installs to different directory?

Recommended Posts

Installed the 424 beta for Designer (and Photo)

Both install to a different folder than usual…

Beta 424: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer Customer Beta
Previous: C:\Program Files\Affinity\Affinity Designer Customer Beta

This not only broke some pinned shortcuts, but also caused the apps to prompt for email and serial number - which was mildly annoying.

Is this a permanent change to be inline with Publisher (which installs to Publisher not Affinity Publisher)?

Will retail versions follow suit with the 1.7.2 update?

The betas have always installed to separate directories from the retail versions as far as I know

If you want to always open the Affinity files with the betas you must right click and always open with the beta program

Affinity Designer 2.2.2075 & beta 2.3.1.2212 Affinity Photo 2.2.2075  beta 2.3.1.2212Affinity Publisher  2.2.2075 & beta 2.3.1.2212

Windows 11 Pro Version    22H2
OS build    22621.1928

We did change the default - several years ago. I'm guessing you've uninstalled this time (which would delete your previously saved install location and product key) where before you always did an upgrade?
