Photo viewed in panel is much darker than in the navigator panel

Recommended Posts

When editing in either raw or jpeg the photo in the editing panel is much darker\under exposed than in the navigator panel. This even applies to photos, I have already processed and exported to as jpgs. I am editing photos based on what I see in the editing panel, when completed finished version is over exposed.

Any idea what I have changed, using most up to date version of Affinity,

Hi @swiggetts, do you have a HDR capable monitor? You can see if you do, by opening the 32-Bit Preview panel, and seeing if you can click the "Enable HDR" checkbox. If so, I've just fixed an issue where 32-bit documents and RAW files in Develop persona will appear darker than expected (if you have a HDR monitor). This fix will be available in 1.7.2, or you can try the latest beta now:

If you don't have a HDR capable monitor then there is something else going on...

Glad its resolved for you using the beta. Did you redevelop the image after changing the output to 16 Bit and then check the Navigator panel? and does your laptop have an HDR display or know the model?

Hi, I have the exact same problem. Appeared suddenly yesterday and persisted after I updated Affinity Photo to the latest version. Now running 1.7.2.471. Doesn't matter if I set 32 or 16 Bit - it's still the same - way too dark in raw development, much lighter in navigator panel.

After exporting, the image looks like it did in the navigator panel (it used to look like the one in editing panel.

Any suggestions?

It's really weird and started happening completely out of the blue...
