Dampsquid
I opened a bunch of PNG files, all simple, small. Planned to crop, export, close, each in turn. First one, no problem. Second one: as soon as I applied the crop Photo crashed. Mac OS offered to reopen Photo, I accepted. [New] first file, no problem, second, crash as before. This pattern repeated until I'd managed to complete my overall task. I don't know what's going on, but this seems to me very similar to the crashes experienced when resizing canvas, reported recently. Staff Chris B Posted July 15, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 15, 2019 Hey Dampsquid, I logged an issue a while ago where I was getting a crash using the Crop Tool but it involved using Straighten, Rotate and clicking Daren etc. on the context toolbar. Do you do any of this? I'll add your crash logs to the bug report. Dampsquid
Nope. I simply open the PNG, manually crop around the image, and apply via the button or pressing enter - doesn't matter which, and the crash occurs.
Staff Chris B Posted July 15, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 15, 2019 How big is the PNG? Would you mind attaching one of them? Have you tried a sample image from the Stock Panel to see if it happens with all images? Old Bruce
To attach the actual .png files to the forum I believe you must first zip them and then attach that (as it stands now those are pngs of pngs). Staff Chris B Posted July 19, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 19, 2019 Hi DampSquid, As Old Bruce said, could you zip them up. This is my fault as I should have suggested that initially—sorry. Did you also manage to try using any of the stock images to see if they crash? Dampsquid
Hi Guys Zipped PNGs attached. @Chris B which stock file(s) are you referring to? Happy to try a few times (reminder: doesn't crash every attempt). two png files.zip
Staff Chris B Posted July 22, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 22, 2019 Hey Dampsquid, Sorry, I was referring to the stock images in the Stock Panel. I've tried with the images you attached but it isn't crashing although I do appreciate it wasn't on every attempt. Because you attached so many crash reports I assumed it was a common occurrence for you. For what it is worth, we are recommending that our customers use the beta over the store version due to the amount of fixes and improvements it has had since the official 1.7 release. I would use that for now and attach any new crash reports with the Crop Tool so we can compare: Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
