Dams
Hi, Is there any way to have statistics about affinity files ? Like how many layers / group / object ? That could help to report bugs when some happens at large scale ! :)
Staff Ben Posted August 28, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 28, 2014 Not sure how that would help. Generally bugs are not due to scalability - you're likely to see the same bug in a small or large file. I'm not saying that large files don't come with obvious overheads, but our engine doesn't work in a linear way whereby the size of the file will be what contributes directly to issues. It's more often sequences of commands or configuration of layers that will be the root of bugs (if there are any ;)). Also, if we get into giving doc stats, it could be endless. There's many different kinds of objects, layers types, etc, and giving meaningful stats on that would be difficult. We have debug information we use, but it'd not mean much to anyone who doesn't understand whats going on under the hood. Of course, if anyone has a problem file the best thing is for us to look at it directly. Dams
ok ! I was just wondering if for example, the snapping could be working "less" good with increased number of objects (like too many objects to compute to snap to middle, to borders, etc...). Staff Ben Posted August 29, 2014 Staff Share Posted August 29, 2014 Snapping should be ok - you can only have up to six candidates for general snapping. There's a chance that Node tool snapping could slow down if you selected thousands of curve layers, but who would ever do that!? :P The overly complicated snapping isn't enabled - it's pretty much simple points, lines and boxes at present. Nothing too taxing. Even when I add snapping along curves, it'll only work for points when using the node tool to help keep complexity down.
