Text jumps when wrapped around objects in columns

I have a four page article in two columns per page. I have grouped objects with a photo of a person in each, with some title text, that are dropped in at various places and wrapped inside the text. For some reason the text flow is interrupted and either the text or the object 'jumps' out of position if I add or subtract text on another page, sending all text out. To recover the alignment on all pages, I have to click on one of the object panels that has moved, and take it down one with the down arrow. The anomaly also seems to add a few repeated lines between linked columns. It's slightly mystifying and frustrating at the same time.
