Hi,

I'd like to make a request to link the file rather than embedding the file when we use the Place Image tool in Affinity Photo. The function exists in Publisher and it'd be great if this could be implemented in Affinity Photo too. When working with composites, there are times when some originals still need to be editable. When we embed the original, it makes the filesize very bloated.

A smaller file size would make it more efficient to work with composites so it'd be much appreciated please :)

Thanks :)

As can be seen from some posts, linking pictures and resulting file size is not yet fully resolved in Publisher.

So when Serif fine-tunes it, it may be added to other applications.

The link you provided is for the beta version from last year.

I just did a test in Publisher and there was some increase in the filesize as mentioned in the post. However, a few Kb is very different when working with filesizes in Photo that can push in excess of 1GB :) Even if file linking meant the afphoto filesize varied a few MB, I'd see that as a huge improvement :)

If you start with Publisher you can link placed images then open the document in APhoto and continue working and saving the document in APhoto format.

If you have placed images in APhoto, they can be changed from embedded images to linked images in Publisher then return to APhoto and continue working

Either option will give you linked images (and thus reduced file size) in APhoto documents

Due to the fact that Boris Johnson is now our Prime Minister, punctuation, spelling and grammar will never be worried about ever again.  We now have far bigger problems to be concerned about.

They are, of course, newer. I deliberately gave with Serif reaction.
