Henrik
What determines slice size and how do I make the slice fit snuggly around an object? For example, this is the object: And when I click "create slice" on that object, this is the slice it generates: Sometimes it seems to fit snuggly, sometimes not. Sometimes I can get the slice to fit snuggly by repeatedly removing the slice and reslicing the same object.
Staff Ben Posted June 8, 2015 Staff Share Posted June 8, 2015 There are two ways of creating slices - Linked and Non-linked. You create Linked slices by selecting a layer and clicking the "Create Slice" button. That slice will then export only the contents of that layer. It will also try to automatically size to the layers content, and will track changes to the lined layer (so if it moves or changes size, the slice box will react). This is usually over-sized due to the way we calculate the box, however, so we also allow you to edit the slice box manually. Linked slices are indicated by a symbol in the top right corner of the slice box. A Linked Slice that has been manually edited will no longer track changes to the size and position of a layer, but will still only export the contents of that layer. Non-Linked slices are created using the Slice Tool. These slices export everything visible inside the rectangle. They do not track a layer, you set the position and size manually. Sometimes it seems to fit snuggly, sometimes not. Sometimes I can get the slice to fit snuggly by repeatedly removing the slice and reslicing the same object. I can think of no reason at all why you would see this behaviour. Making a slice of the same object will always give exactly the same slice box, unless you manually edited it at some point. Andreas Larsen
Am I missing something or is there really no way to convert linked slices to unlinked?
Staff Ben Posted July 8, 2015 Staff Share Posted July 8, 2015 Currently, no. You can easily drag out a new slice in the same position though.
