fbx
Hi, another user coming from Photoshop here, I bought Affinity this week and so far am very pleased with it. Works similarly to Photoshop and I can use my Plugins with it, so far it does everything I need minus the subscription fees. Two little things that I miss or probably just have not found yet. When I crop an image, and rotate it, I was used to it that Photoshop automatically changed the frame in that way that it snaps to the borders of the image so that, when rotating, no blank spaces outside the actual image are created. I'll try to show what I mean. This is standard view when selecting the crop tool. This is what happens when I rotate the frame, it keeps original size and creates blank space around the rotated image. This is what I would like it to do automatically, snap to the edges of the actual image so that no blank space is left. Is that something I can set? Additionally, is it possible to set "original ratio" as standard setting, instead of unrestricted? Second issue, when zooming it just zooms into the general direction where my mouse is sitting. I am not used to that, of course no big issue but I would like it more if it always zoomed the image centered in the window, until the image extends the program window. Then it zooms where my mouse is. Is there a setting for that? Thanks! Edited July 9, 2019 by fbx
Dan C
Hi fbx, Welcome to the forums 4 hours ago, fbx said: This is what I would like it to do automatically, snap to the edges of the actual image so that no blank space is left. Unfortunately there's no automatic way to do this in Affinity currently, it's been requested previously on our forums and is something we may add in the future. 5 hours ago, fbx said: Additionally, is it possible to set "original ratio" as standard setting, instead of unrestricted? You can't yet set defaults for this tool, apologies. 5 hours ago, fbx said: I would like it more if it always zoomed the image centered in the window, until the image extends the program window. There's no setting in Affinity for this, the zoom will always centre around your cursor when zooming manually, however you can use the keyboard shortcuts [CTRL/CMD & - or +] to zoom in and out linearly, which will not move the documents position. I recommend putting in a feature request for our devs to see and consider adding this option in the future! https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/forum/52-feature-requests-suggestions-discussions/ Apologies I couldn't be of more assistance here!
