golmschenk
I created a simple document with 3 trapezoids (one big and two small). When I try to subtract the small ones from the large one, the angles of the subtracted trapezoids changes so that it takes out the wrong chunks. Trying to convert everything to curves beforehand does not seem to fix the problem. I'm not sure if the subtraction performs some extra calculation that it is suppose to that I just don't know about and perhaps I just need to approach this differently. Is this the case? Or am I doing something else wrong? Or is this some sort of bug? Attached are pictures showing before and after subtraction. Thanks for the time! Staff MEB Posted June 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted June 7, 2015 Hi golmschenk, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Thanks for your feedback. You're not doing anything wrong... This is a known bug that should be fixed soon. It may take a little, because we are also readying Affinity Photo release, but we are aware of it. golmschenk
Got it. Thanks for the quick reply! Is there any work around? I would think there must be a way to covert the trapezoids to curves in some way that the curves forget all information about being trapezoids and can then still be properly removed. Is there such a way? Or do I just have to play with the curves for a while until they happen to work out?
Staff MEB Posted June 7, 2015 Staff Share Posted June 7, 2015 I would duplicate the green objects, perform the boolean operation, then adjust/move the nodes of the resulting blue shape using the duplicated green shapes as a reference. You can enable the snapping to make sure the nodes of the resulting shape you are adjusting match exactly the positions of the nodes in the green shapes.
