text around a round label

I am designing a record label and I would like to put text on the outer curve of the label but don"t know how?

If you're using Designer, you would use the Text on a Path functionality:

In that case, copy a suitable object from the file attached to this post, paste it into your document and edit it to your requirements.

I was able to put circular text on the label - thank you - but I would like to understand how it works so that i can adjust it if possible.

Also how do I keep it for my next label design - at the moment its just a layer in my history...how do I keep it for later use on other files ?
