New index problem in Beta 1.7.2.420

Recommended Posts

I was trying to answer a forum question about indexes, specifically about how to change the formatting of the index entry page numbers.

I noticed that the release version (1.7.1.404) handled my formatting change correctly, but the current beta (1.7.2.420) doesn't.

Specifically, create a new document.

Add some text, and some index marks in it.

Create the index.

Edit the Character Style "Index Entry Page Number" and specify a font weight of Bold, and a color of red. In .7.1.404, you get this, as I expected.

In 1.7.2.420 you get this incorrect result:

Here's the file I saved in 1.7.1.404:

Index-171404.afpub

As another experiment, I opened that file in 1.7.2.420.

Everything looked fine, just as in 1.7.1.404. However, as soon as I opened the Index Entry Page Number text style for editing, the index changed so the entire entry was bold red.

Hi Walt,

Might be missing something here but i'm not seeing this. Looking at your file I can only reproduce what you see if I select all of the index and apply the Index Entry Page Number style to the whole thing (which is what looks like has happened in your second screenshot).

When it's all gone red can you double check what style is applied to the index text (not the numbers)?
