Hi

I'm trying to set up an index in publisher but am having a few problems with the settings I am trying to get.

I've managed to get the section headers in bold and red like I want, then I have the title of the article in the regular font and not in bold, but I'm trying to get the page number in red and bold, plus I'd like to have the page number aligned to the right side of the column.  I used to be able to do it in InDesign but I can't get it to work on Publisher.  I've changed all the Index entries on my text styles including Index Entry Page Number, but the page number doesn't come out in red and bold as I have it set in Index Entry Page Number style.  There also isn't the option in that setting box to align the page number to the right.

If I highlight the page number and click on Index Entry Page Number it will come out bold and red but it won't do it automatically and I can't get just the number to align right.  When I add in an entry the page number ends up right next to the article name.

Is it possible to do what I want or will I have to sort it out manually?

Thanks Jo

Aligning numbers to the right: In the Index studio panel, use the pulldown in Separator and choose Tab:

Then, update the Text Style for the entry (probably, for you, Index Entry 2), and in the Paragraph section, Tab Stops, add a right-aligned tab stop at the distance you want:

Edit: More coming on the page numbers, still experimenting.

For the page numbers in the index: Edit the Index Entry Page Number text style (it's down at the bottom of the Text Styles panel listing, with the Character Styles.

In the Character Font section, change the font weight to Bold. In the Colors and Decorations section, change the character fill to red.

Note: This works correctly in a test I just did using the Publisher 1.7.1.404, but it fails in Publisher 1.7.2.420 Beta. I will report that as a Publisher Beta bug.

I created already and works very good until I started to add (just in my case) Long products name, and I started notice this problem. There are many Index with this problem, the number stay in the left part and not in the right as the other. Do you know what could be?

thanks a lot :)

Sorry, but I do not know what causes that. I suggest you post again, and create a new topic in the Bugs part of the forums so it gets appropriate attention. If you can provide a small sample .afpub file that shows the problem that would also be helpful.

(Note: There is at least one error there that you didn't mark. The second entry from the bottom in the left column, for page 38, where the page number should have gone to the second line rather than being run together with the preceding word.)
