NightlyVagabond Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 I recently updated, but had a problem getting the update to install. After some browsing I used a method whereby I renamed my Designer folder to Designer.old and it worked, but now I'm missing all my custom brushes. Is there a way to bring the brushes from my Designer.old folder directly into the new Designer directory? Quote
walt.farrell Posted July 4, 2019 Posted July 4, 2019 What OS do you use, Mac or Windows? Exactly what folder (full name) did you rename? Unfortunately, that's not the one that would have your brushes. If you have good system backups you might be able to find a backup copy. The folder would be C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0\user The specific file would be vector_brushes.propcol If you don't have a backup of that, then for any custom brushes you acquired elsewhere you would need to re-import them from the original .afbrushes files. For any that you created yourself, you would need a backup copy of either that file, or an exported .afbrushes file you made previously. (One other possibility: if you were also a Designer Beta user, and you had imported your brushes into Designer Beta, you could retrieve that set of brushes from the vector_brushes.propcol file in C:\Users\<your username>\AppData\Roaming\Affinity\Designer\1.0 (Beta)\user Quote -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. Well, I'll dig through AppData and have a look just in case it's still there, otherwise, I'll have to start over. Fortunately I can just redownload my purchased brushes; it's the custom ones that'll be a hecker. Thanks for the quick replies! walt.farrell 1 Quote
