  • The problem is with the Crop Tool, if you select the option absolute dimensions and chose any resolution the app can’t scale the select resolution, for example if you have any file with 4000 x 3000 px with 300 dpi and you chose 800 x 600 px the app should show small square into the picture with 800 x 600 px, but the square leaves the area of picture by a large number of pixels.
  • The Random close happens in any moment you work with RAW files in RAW Persona I use a Nikon D7500 and my device is a iPad Air 3Gen and app is a Affinity Photo 1.7 for iPad

Do you use noise filter in Develop mode? A few of us have experienced crashes with the noise filter.

Tried your file and it developed fine. Played with exposure adjustments, contrast being the only major adjustment needed. Fiddled with noise filter settings too but couldn’t invoke a crash. A fair bit of clipping evident in shadows and highlights. I'm using the latest affinity phot beta.

If you are using the beta ios13 that may be causing your issues..

Yes I have had this happen too with the latest photo beta, but only once. Devs are aware of an issue and seeking more info so maybe you you post your crash reports here.

Yes, same as you. Not scaling correctly. Crop at 800x600 is bigger than original!

Hey guys,

Please see Gabe's reply in this thread which sums up the Absolute setting:

I've logged the issue regarding the crash. Hopefully we can reach a solution to this soon!

Oh and welcome to the Affinity Forums @javiervm :)

@Chris B Hi Chris, here is my response to Gabes post.

".....while that is great for resizing, it is pretty useless for cropping. If I want to 'crop' a photo it is because I want to place the viewers focus on a particular area of my photo. With this current (by design) Absolute setting I have no control over the position of the crop. More accurately this is a document 'resize' tool not a 'crop' tool.

The way I feel it should work is that I set an absolute dimension for my crop box and that is what the crop box reverts to. Then I can move that crop box around my photo to see how the desired crop will look at the size I want it.  Custom ratio is no use for this because I cannot specify a specific 'size'. Sure I can transform the custom ratio to make it bopigger or smaller but it gives no size indication. Devs please fix Absolute or add dimensions to custom ratio as crop box is resized. '"

Hopefully Devs will reconsider this feature. Cropping and Resizing a photo are usually done for different reasons.
