Time critical help needed on text import mess (Win10)

Recommended Posts

Someone help save my project. I have been building a cookbook for a non-profit. It was being done in InDesign but Affinty Publisher is so much better so I started over.  Today I had to add a paragraph of text to it so I did it in notepad then copied and pasted into the Affinity page. Everything is jammed into one column on the right side. This has worked for the past couple of days with once or twice this doing it but it then stopped. I can't see any paragraph or character setting that looks out of whack. Picture attached. This is a time critical project so any help would be appreciated.

Please include a screenshot of the Character studio panel, the Paragraph studio panel, and the Context toolbar, as those contain the settings that could cause that.

Can you please try using the 'Paste Without Format' from the Edit menu to strip any text formatting imported from Notepad

Doesn’t Notepad only export plain text? :/

This text frame looks to have a huge left indent applied. Check the settings for it in the Text Frame Studio.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

If you create a new document, and copy that text frame from your current document and paste it into the new document, does that same thing happen?

If so, can you save the new .afpub and attach it here for us to look at?

In any case, if your goal is simply to fix that frame: with the frame selected does clicking the Revert Defaults icon (or using the menu Edit > Defaults > Revert) fix it?

(Please save a copy of the document before you do that, in case Serif wants it for to diagnose the issue.)

Make a new document with a text frame and the problem text in it and attach it along with the file from Notepad, I have limited ability to help with only a screenshot of the result.

Okay, we can call off the dogs with my sincere appreciation for all you that jumped in to help. Writing the extra paragraph in WORD and copy and paste from there works, but it's a work around. Work around's bug me and I couldn't shake the feeling this was operator error. So I went back to create a paragraph in Notepad again and copy/pasted it to Affinity. Yep, there's that text mess again. This time I see the left indent was set to 24. Well that explains that. This is repeatable so something buried somewhere in the Notepad plain text is forcing that.

That's for a later time to chase down.

Again - thank you everyone!
