Jaynat Posted July 3, 2019 Posted July 3, 2019 Everyone knows a good document will eventually need to deviate from the template. I don't want to change my template just make a few adjustments on different pages from time to time. In particular I am looking to change the width and height of a text box and/or image. When I select the box it has little x's around it and on the bottom it says I have to unlock the selection first to make edits...yet I cannot figure out how to do this? Any help is greatly appreciated. So far I really like this program, but this is one function I use far too often to ultimately make the switch. I hope this is an easy fix. Quote

One way is to click the lock on the selected object in the Layers panel to remove it. As you're talking about Publisher it's possible that the text frame you're working with is on a Master Page. In that case, to make a change that affects just one document page: Open the Layers studio panel. At the bottom, you should have an orange-highlighted layer with the Master Page's name on it. Right-click that layer, and choose Edit Detached from the context menu that appears. Make your change to the text frame size. Click Finish on the orange bar at the top of the window. I'm really hoping that there is a way I make this into a shortcut? This seems pretty cumbersome... Is there some other step I am missing? Quote

Click the lock icon on the locked layer, not the lock icon at the top of the panel. 2 hours ago, Jaynat said: so the layer has a thin orange line on the left of the layer. Right click on the layer with the name of the Master page like "(Master A)" in your screenshot, not any of its child layers like the "Picture Frame" layer shown selected in your screenshot.
