Ability to HIDE all Layers except selected

Recommended Posts

My eyesight is not good and I use 2 monitors with 2 different settings   for ease of use. I find   that working on a single layer (image) the image  gets  distracted  with surrounding  images/colours.

Yes I can select  layers by clicking them  on or off but it would speed up workflow if I could  click on it and hold the mouse button down on it  for 3 seconds would automatically turn OFF view of all other layers.

So this is more like an accessibility issue than anything else. Just  a suggestion.

Thank you.

Doesn't Isolation Mode do what you want?

I think, as @carl123 suggested, that Isolation Mode might satisfy your request:

Perhaps instead of "isolation mode", which sounds a little confusing, perhaps use "solo" instead. I use a digital audio program and when you are working with twenty tracks hitting "solo" mutes all but the relevant track. Same idea. Easy peasy.

What if i want just 3 layers out of 30 layers? Instead of just one.

Is there a way to do so?

The fastest way:

  1. click on the top layer
  2. shift-click on the bottom layer to select all
  3. command-click on the 3 layers you want to keep visible to deselect them
  4. click one of the checkboxes of the selected 27 layers to disable them all

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Lock the 3 (or any amount of) layers you want to keep visible

Select > Select all Layers
Layer > Hide
Select > Deselect Layers
Layer > Unlock All

The last 4 steps can be made into a macro if you do this often

This is beyond a joke.

It's provided in V2. From the Designer 2 Help: https://affinity.help/designer2/en-US.lproj/pages/Layers/manageLayers.html

Note: It also works in Photo (which this Feedback topic is about), though I have not found it documented in the Photo 2 Help, yet.

Edit:  As this topic is about Photo, here's the relevant Help page for Photo 2, which also mentions the function: https://affinity.help/photo2/en-US.lproj/index.html?page=pages/Panels/layersPanel.html?title=Layers panel (Photo Persona)

I know.

And it's so badly designed, and operates so poorly, and is done in such a careless manner that it's beyond a joke.
