another question, not sure if I'm missing it - or it's simply missing ;D

I often use textures in my vector illustrations - depending on texture and detail, sometimes I use clipping masks  - sometimes I use them as fills, via pattern swatches.
(for example, see footer illustration here:  jjscider.co.uk )

Is there any way of doing something similar in AD?

This is what's available currently:

1. Select a shape

2. Go to Gradient tool and select for type > bitmap

3. Select the bitmap/texture you want and manipulate it as you wish (there's options to set it up as repeat, mirror; you can change the resampling etc etc)

Thank you, Meb :)

now that was very odd - I tried this last night but could not figure it out… could not see the 'type' options
this morning, noticed I was missing the context/type options from the interface entirely…

restarting AD, no change -  editing toolbar, just launching the dialog box without touching anything - all of a sudden that caused these options to reappear in the toolbar…

no problem, just mentioning it ;)

one more question:
I can see that I can resize the image - is there any way to constrain ratio at all?

one more - more of a long shot:

I tried opening a .ai file - this included different textures, used as fills. In AI ~ they're part of my swatch library.
When I open the file - it looks empty. All paths are preserved, all fills lost.

is there any way to save textures as fills at all? is there any way to port over my textures from AI?
(I tried a few bits, like saving my swatches as AI file - but no luck)

I can imagine this could be a difficult aspect to implement, just wanted to ask :)
