leopalmer Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 In Affinity Photo>File>Open.....Nikon RAW files appear as boxes but no thumbnails. This applies to Nikon D810 and D850 files. Fuji ZT1 thumbnails appear perfectly. Is there a fix? Quote
IanSG Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 The thumbnails are provided by the OS - if there's no native support then you'll need an additional codec to display them. I'd be surprised if Nikon doesn't have something suitable, but I installed the FastPictureViewer Codec Pack on my Windows PC, and that displays everything I've ever thrown at it, including D810 and D850 files. It's not free, but at $9.99 it's very reasonably priced. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10

v_kyr Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Nikon also has an own Win NEF codec for such purposes. Quote ☛ Affinity Designer 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Photo 1.10.8 ◆ Affinity Publisher 1.10.8 ◆ OSX El Capitan ☛ Affinity V2.3 apps ◆ MacOS Sonoma 14.2 ◆ iPad OS 17.2
leopalmer Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Thanks for that...….I couldn't be more impressed with this forum. Quote

My original requirement was to handle PEF and DNG files, but the performance was too poor. Quote AP, AD & APub user, running Win10
leopalmer Posted July 1, 2019 Author Posted July 1, 2019 Not bad, certainly as good as Adobe Bridge with CC2019. I'm quite happy. Quote
