Optional Save Icon/Button in Toolbar

Recommended Posts

This may have come up before. I did a search and didn't see anything though.

I understand some may think a save icon/button isn't essential, but for those of us who like it, it would be nice to have it as an optional icon to add to the toolbar below the menu.

I'm working in Publisher right now, but I'd love to see it in all 3 apps. :)

Ctrl + S is problem? Or set Autosave interval.

There is no Autosave, just a File Recovery setting

Be aware that File Recovery is not the same as an Auto Save feature.  Manually saving your document at regular intervals is the best (current) way to ensure you minimise any loss of work due to application/computer problems.

If you mistakenly believe that by setting the File Recovery option on and that that will always protect you from losing large amounts of work in the event of a crash, then you risk being hugely disappointed when a crash occurs

By all means set File Recovery to on (if not already set) but considered it as your last ditch hope in recovering a document that you had not manually saved recently.

PS +1 for a save icon/button, it's so much easier for those of us that prefer to work with just a pen or a mouse as much as possible

To save time I am currently using an automated AI to reply to some posts on this forum. If any of "my" posts are wrong or appear to be total b*ll*cks they are the ones generated by the AI. If correct they were probably mine. I apologise for any mistakes made by my AI - I'm sure it will improve with time.

I have a degree in computer science, programmer, web developer, and author.

Yeah, I actually know about Ctrl. S. :/

Have you ever seen a Safetype keyboard? Yep, Ctrl S is more challenging, especially when I'm doing something that uses a lot of mouse actions.

I have a toolbar with icons, lots of blank space up there, and it's already customizable. A Save button would be greatly appreciated, and for those who prefer Ctrl S, they don't have to add it to their toolbar.

As a graduate programmer you know, that in addition to requirement, is equally necessary known to state his exact reason (which you unfortunately did not mention). Only then can the development team determine the most appropriate solution *), and especially to set the appropriate priorities (depending on whether it is completely restrictive for the user or just handy).

*) I would suggest (as a programmer) a fully configurable Toolbar (like most applications) instead of the often-required specific features (Save, Undo / Redo, etc.) because this is a more versatile solution.
