robertl Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 Hi, I feel very happy with Publisher, its a great program and as an Indesign User I don't have any problems to use it imminently :-) I was trying my first professionell projects with and after finished I wanted to export everything for backup reasons.... I was a really shocked that a packaging feature is missing....I still can't believe it. Now I must do this manually??? Really? Please understand, a package-feature is a MUST-have, otherwise I can't use Publisher for my daily work. Pllllllease!!! Many greetings, rob Dmitry19 and Markcq 2 Quote
thadeusz Posted June 30, 2019 Posted June 30, 2019 +1 Should be added soon! Also there is no "reveal in finder" in ressource manager to find assets manually. Yes, there is a path, but this is awfull slow to work with. Markcq and Dmitry19 2 Quote
3joern Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 +1 but The problem here is unfortunately that thanks to the Studio link, the (changed) images are embedded and if you e.g. packaging the document and later change image data (such as OPI's) or other corrections, those in the current version are not updated in the Publisher document. Therefore, it will be important Affinity create a meaningful workflow that makes packaging (for linked images) useful. The best option at this time is just export a print pdf for the Produktion and for a export Layout for the client just embed the images (I know is professional like a Layout in PowerPoint, but at this time Affinity only had this workflow, so I still use indesign for my productive work and hope one day they optimize Publisher for professionals). Markcq Posted April 16, 2020 Posted April 16, 2020 +1 Definitely need Packaging!!! Linked files instead of embedded files will also be amazing. If a file is edited outside of Publisher it would be good if it could update in Publisher instead of having to replace the image every time. Quote

See the Collect function on the Resource Manager Help page that Wosven mentioned. Also, there's a Preference for automatically updating changed files that are Linked. I have just discovered Resource Manager and Collect on my own, purely by accident. But I found it. So hopped back on to the forum to mention that I have found it. So thank you. Quote

There are a lot of threads about packaging, and spending time here or searching you would have find this. Following the forum can help you get interesting informations and learn new things too. That'll only when you'll have read the same questions asked over and over that you'll be succint to give pertinent informations without blabla. It can looks condescending or usefull. Quote
