This Simple PDF crashes Publisher

Recommended Posts

@Bryce

I clicked on your attached file and it immediately opened in my pdf editor, PDF-Xchange, to show this:

A completely blank document!  I assume that is not what you intended to produce and/or attach?

Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus.  Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2.

iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 17.4) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.

I can reproduce this here on my Mac. The PDF doesn't just crash Publisher, but also Photo and Designer. This does however only happen on placing it inside an existing document, not on opening the file in one of the Affinity applications. Copying the vector objects from there and pasting them into another document works just fine.

Select all from Edit, also it is 12 years old so maybe it is just the ink has faded.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.4
Affinity Designer 2.4.1 | Affinity Photo 2.4.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.4.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

That is why it had named "inverted" in the selection. I tried placing, opening and both crashed Publisher. Opening didn't crash Designer, but it didn't open it either. It just kind of hung. I would click in the app and it wouldd just beep so I had to kill it.

It is 12 years old logo.

The way I got it to open was save it as an EPS but still have no idea why it would crash the program.

I've had Publisher open the PDF, but most of the time it does crash, as does Designer and Photo. I've passed the file over to the developers to investigate further with a crash report from my system.
