Assets?

I looked up the help about assets. But honestly, I still don't get it. What is that about?

On the left I have two panels: Pages and Assets. I expected to find IMAGES in the assets panel. But guess what, there is a panel hidden in the menus called Resources, where the images are listed.

Now: the second most important thing in a Layout mostly are images. But in Publisher their list is hidden 'somewhere' - and instead, my asset panel is empty. No clue what may will come up there some time.

It seems I really need a thick book in order to be able to use affinity products. Feels like the 80s all over again.

Strange thinking again by affinity. So its more like a library. That can be useful too. But the most important things for mostly anyone I would say are 

1. list of pages

2. list of images

those two should be there foremost. But instead, the list of images is hidden 'somewhere' in the menus.

Yes, please, we need a better resources panel integrated into Studio

Have you looked at the Resource Manager?  That's probably closer to what you're looking for.
