Hi Angelramos,

Welcome to the forums :)

Please could you provide the .afdesign file in question so I can look into this further for you?

Thanks

If you dragged text in from browser it will retain the browser background colour (which I believe is a registered bug). Maybe that is what you did?

If you play with the text layer blend modes you may get the white to disappear against the background.

So strange, @Angelramos. I could be missing something as I poke around the file. But as @DM1 mentioned, this one seems registered as a bug. Nevertheless, it may be good for you to mention this issue again:

Photo Bugs Found on iPads

This issue only affects this particular document. So least it’s easy enough to start a new Designer project, copying the unaffected layers of the old document and then pasting them into the new document, allowing you to start again with text the way it should work.

This is yet another instance of the iPad versions missing something compared with the desktop version, which could potentially be of use.

Designer for Mac has a Character panel that includes the option to choose a color for the font as well as for the font's background color. For this particular document, the Background Color is set to WHITE. But if you choose transparent, then all vector text will look normal again, without any background color.

The options for changing the Background Color doesn't seem to exist in the iPad version YET.

You are the MVP! Definitely a feature I noticed was missing but I thought it was just hidden. Hoping hexadecimal comes soon as well. Really really appreciate this.

Fixed this using the appropriate Background Color tool in Designer for Mac and making it transparent again.

Now you can create text in the document again without any background color.

Another option that works reasonably well in the interim is the use of the blend source graph. Provided you don’t want a black background, it works with most colour ranges. Hopefully Affinity will set imported text background to transparent. It used to import with transparent background so I suspect the capability already exists in iPad but the controls have not been included in the iPads UI.

I thought this issue effected only pasted text but it appears that all Frame text has a white background and not transparent. The Art text box on the other hand has a transparent background. So that’s where the problem lays.

Edit - I was able to reset the frame text in the Document Defaults menu, Revert. I can now draw Frame text with transparent background but.  The paste bug still exists.

THAT'S the one I was hoping to test. Great! And if the original text has a color other than black, you can get it really close by simply duplicating the text layer once or twice.

does anyone know how to deactivate it? I’m getting a fill behind my text that blocks other layers

If this is happening when you draw a new Artistic Text box or a Frame text box you can reset it to transparent by selecting the tool, then go to Document Menu Defaults, Revert. IIt still pastes Text with a colour background but I think that is a different issue.

"Revert" may be a bit of a sledgehammer approach, but it will definitely work here. It resets not only the background color, but also the color and size of the text.

It's an interesting bug. The solution is hopefully easy to implement by exposing the option to change the background color at will.

Further testing. If you open Safari full screen, select and copy text, then open Photo and draw a text box and paste the text. No coloured background!!

The bug only appears when Photo is open and Safari is dragged on top.

Hmm... Tried several variants of the above, but I still get text with a white background.

@Ulysses Try the following. The first example demonstrates transparent background under normal typing.  The second shows how switching apps via home button on iPad and copying from Safari, then home button and select AP and pasting into the frame text box. Transparent background. In the third example, with AP Open, swipe up springboard and drag Safari on screen, select and copy (same) text, paste into Frame text box. Background of text is no longer transparent. It’s white. Go figure.

Confirmed.

Even with this bug, it would be much more manageable if they simply expose the tool for changing text background color.
