Here's a file that may help.

sample.afdesign

I created a circle in the middle and clicked on it with the Text tool to insert the text. You can adjust text position with the orange triangles controls.

Then i duplicated this object, moved the text to the bottom position with the orange triangles and pressed the Reverse Text Path button on the context toolbarFinally adjusted the Baseline value (context toolbar) to align it with top text's x-height.

Um, you didn't need to duplicate the circle or reverse the path. Another way is:

  • Create the circle.
  • Use Layer > Convert to Text Path.
  • Click on the Centre Align button in the context toolbar.
  • Type "Smooth Roast".
  • Press Return.
  • Type "Smooth Roast" again.
  • Adjust the Baseline from the context toolbar.

When you press Return, or if there is more text than will fit, it automatically switches to using the other side of the path. This is usually easier than having two identical circle objects on top of each other. Using the menu option instead of clicking with the Art Text tool gives you default handles at the semi-circle positions, and using text alignment positions the text perfectly without having to fiddle.
