Ian Tasker Posted June 27, 2019 Share Posted June 27, 2019 Hi Just finished my first Publisher project - 250 pages full of text, photographs and documents - and about to send off to printers. However, when exporting to pdf I get preflight warning about overflowing text frames and missing linked resources or our-of-date items. Is there a way of working out what is missing or overflowing without going through and checking every text box or having to reimpose every images or linked resources. Help! Chris26 Posted June 27, 2019 Share Posted June 27, 2019 To find out about the images go to DOCUMENT and at the bottom you will see RESOURCE MANAGER, this tells you which images need looking into. As far as the text overflow is concerned I am not aware of any easy method to check this except by going through every text frame you have. Although if you have linked text frames then the job is so much easier since you only need to lokk at the very last text frame in a given sequence of written block (over many pges that is) and the last frame will overflow. gnurf Posted July 8, 2019 Share Posted July 8, 2019 OK, this is kind of a pain in the butt... I guess some kind of preflight function is pretty high on the ToDo-list (please say it is so). Finding overflowing or overlapping text frames is quite a pain especially if you have hundreds of pages. kazrbutler Posted July 8, 2019 Share Posted July 8, 2019 @Ian Tasker Someone else shared this, but it is worth passing on. From the View menu, make sure you have Show Text Flow selected, and are NOT using Preview mode - this allows the red dots indicating overflow to show. Then select Zoom> Zoom to document. The pages will be reduced in size, but the red over flow dots remain the same size, allowing you to easily see which pages have overflows, and an idea of location.
