Guzzi
Hi! If I create a border, I want it z. B. provided with a color contour. But this does not work, because 'Füllstil' "Kontur" displays a gradient window instead. If I choose 'History', more options are displayed. The error occurs in both the customer and beta versions. I remember that the processing in 1.6.1 was correct. 1. Supplementary question: How to choose the color wheel or slider, the color "white" or "black", without having to set all color values to 255 or 0? 2. Supplementary question: Why is there not "Apply" or "Cancel" with effect but only "Close"? 1. Staff Gabe Posted July 17, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 17, 2019 Hi @Guzzi, Sorry for the delayed reply. The FX fill style "Contour" is different from "Gradient". Contour follows the shape of your object, while gradient simply applies a gradient over the object. Not a bug, just how the Outline FX works. It worked exactly the same in 1.6. Thanks, Gabe. Under 'Contour' I understand a smooth demarcated line, if I chose only one color, as in the following example: Unter Kontur verstehe ich eine glatt abgegrenzte Linie, wenn ich nur eine Farbe gewählt habe, wie in folgendem Beispiel: If Serif interprets this differently, a different name should be used.
Those are both gradients, namely vertical vs. horizontal running gradients, thus naming one here "Contour" is slightly misleading. thomaso
Indeed, the term contour is confusing to verbally distinguish the two types of gradients. Even the help seems to be aware of this and delivers a special box to explain it: But besides that little issue (assigning works like a charm) I get another occurrence which I suspect to be a bug: Once I have assigned a solid color, the "Colour" preview sticks with this, even if the fill style got changed afterwards. That way it still shows a previously selected solid pink even if a gradient type got assigned: Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

thomaso

First, the file was read-only. OK. Then I could edit or recolor the circles. I then wanted to draw new elliptical selection frames, but the sprangeraber after omitting the mouse button always. Ie. I never got the size I wanted. Finally I wanted to draw a new contour at the red circle and the result looked like this. My chosen selection has changed automatically. The Outline effect is useless for my purposes. Even if I achieve the desired result, the time spent is far too much, because most of the time it does not work at first attempt. The color selection is far too complicated and always falls back to "black". In PS this is much easier. I will not keep it up and take the tool "ring" instead. Thanks for your hints.
Interessant ist, dass GabrielM "has logged this". ("it still shows a previously selected solid pink even if a gradient type got assigned:") <– Kannst du denn diesen Fehler bei dir nachvollziehen? Staff Gabe Posted July 24, 2019 Staff Share Posted July 24, 2019 The issue I have logged is the one where the Effects panel shows a different colour to the Pop-up panel. I don't believe there's another bug being discussed here. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Guzzi
Border - Umrandung Guzzi posted a topic in Affinity on Desktop Questions (Mac and Windows) Hallo! I would like to insert a square or round selection from one photo into another. The inserted selection should have a uniform border in the desired strength and color. Example as follow. Grüße Guzzi Quote Windows 10 Prof.; Affinity Photo 1.7.3.481, Beta 1.8.0.

Guzzi

Ganz ehrlich. Quote macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1
