Publisher Master Page Tutorial question (split)

Master Pages - around 7:29, he drags the the Master Page onto a sheet, but it's only showing the left side of the Master Page. How do you drag the right side of the Master Page to paste onto a sheet?

I'm not sure about Publisher because I didn't try it, but here is an experience from ID and QXP:

Never mind which master page (Left or Right) you drag on which page (Left or Right), the appropriate one will be assigned.

I hope it is the same in Publisher, too.

I appreciate you're trying to help, but my query is specifically about Affinity Publisher.

There are 3 drop targets on each facing page Left, Middle and Right as shown by the hilight before you release. That shows which facing page will be replaced by a facing master, left, both or right.

OK. I tried and found that it is the same as in ID and QXP.

Here is a Publisher file to try it youself. Just try to drag left master-B page to any right page of the document and vice versa.

Thanks. Still not working. I highlight the section (left side), try drag it onto right page, I still just get the right page. Likewise, darg the right side of the master onto a left facing page, still only get the left master page?!

That is the current 'by design' behaviour. If you want to be able to put a "right" master on a left or a right use a facing page document with a non facing master (use "Spread Setup" with master page selected change from "facing" to "single")

Of course. You can't assign left master to right document side or vice versa. It is a normal behaviour in all DTP apps. For your needs you have to create another master page and copy the elements from previous one, but on the opposite pages.

Or make a non facing master to drop on left or right of a facing page spread.

Heeey, I didn't notice it is possible in Publisher. Thanks Patrick.

Also thanks. I'll have a play around on Publisher.

Be aware that you might run into a inner vs. left/right confusion if using single masters in facing documents:
(as if kind of "buggy by design")
