MikeFromMesa
I don't know if this is a bug or not so I am posting it here rather than in the bug section. I exported an image as a psd and tried to load it into various editors. Elements 13 and APB on my Mac had no issue with it, but when I started Photoshop CS 5.1 on the Parallels Window VM and tried to load the psd I got the following: Since I don't normally edit my APB files in my Parallels VM I am not sure this is a real issue (at least for me), but it might be of some interest to the developers. Here is the dropbox link for anyone who is interested: https://www.dropbox.com/s/gwpt3ddb21613ar/IMG_0006.psd?dl=0. As an aside I also could not load the image in PhotoLine. An attempt to do so resulted in the error message: The document “IMG_0006.psd” could not be opened., but that might just be PhotoLine's issue. Staff Leigh Posted May 29, 2015 Staff Share Posted May 29, 2015 I've seen this message before when opening a PSD that was created in a newer version of Photoshop into an older version. The older version was unable to recognise some of the newer features used within the PSD.
MikeFromMesa
I've seen this message before when opening a PSD that was created in a newer version of Photoshop into an older version. The older version was unable to recognise some of the newer features used within the PSD. I do not have a new version of Photoshop on my computer, on either the Mac or Windows side, so I can not check compatibility between APB and PS 6.0/CC, but since Elements opens the psd without any issue, I assume PS would also. I did a test with this image. I opened it in Elements 13 and re-saved it as a psd with a different name. I then was able to successfully open it in my VM PS 5.1 so 5.1 does not think there is a forward compatibility issue with Elements 13, which is the current Elements version and the parallel to PS 6.0/CC. PS will also open the original psd, but only if I flatten it. None of this is of great importance to me, per se. I do not use my Windows VM PS version except under the most dire circumstances so, if this gets checked off as a simple forward compatibility issue, it is certainly OK with me. Thanks for the response.
Staff Ben Posted June 8, 2015 Staff Share Posted June 8, 2015 It is also possible that we have fixed an issue with our PSD exporter that will address this. I've identified a number of issues with exporting adjustment layers. These should be in the next Beta.
