Issue in opening Pentax RAW file (PEF)

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I am using Pentax K-70 and mostly shooting in RAW. I am using Affinity Photo since more than a year on my iPad Pro and it was working flawless for my both types of RAW files such as PEF (Pentax native RAW format) or DNG as well as JPEG. But suddenly it has stopped importing PEF files while DNG files work still as before. Now I can only import DNG files from Pentax K-70 and not PEF. I opens a blank white screen with as message that " Developer assistant: The Assistant automatically applied exposure compensation". I checked the exposure slider in Basics of Developer Persona it was shifted totally to right (extreme high exposure of value 5). I don't know why is this happening? Once I reduce the slider back to lower exposure values the photo appears back and can be worked upon. But I dont under stand that why is it doing exposure compensation while importing RAW PEF files only? and why does it shoot it to all the way to highest value so that whole shot becomes totally washed out under overexposure?Does it have something to do with default color space? Then why was it not happening previously? It is something with the latest update of Affinity Photo on iPad?

Kindly help.

I've just downloaded and tested a .PEF file taken on a Pentax K-70 and it's opened in the Develop persona fine, see the attached screenshot. Can you provide a link to one of the .PEF files you're importing so we can test.

Hi,

I made some inspections: Problem looks to be with develop assistant and lens correction setting (found other topic of it). There seems to be other settings also. I am trying to move bit by bit every setting to take "no action" or "default". Restarting Photo every time and trying to open raw (.pef) file over and over again ...
