Hi There,

I'm working on the logo of my company, which is made of shapes (equilateral triangles & diamonds), but when I use the shape tool, I get thin white lines (pixel gap) between the shapes.

See attached (don't mind the colors, I changed them to highlight the issue)

I know about this thread: https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/topic/28169-pixel-gap/

I also contacted Affinity's Messenger support and they replied that I had to basically apply the fixes in the thread above and then redo my shapes using the pen tool.

2 questions there:

1) (sorry, I'm not a graphic designer) is there a simple way to make equilateral triangles using the pen tool?

2) I made some tests and although I followed the advice/fix, I still  get the same lines. Is there something I am missing? How can I get rid of those line?

Thank you,

Ben

Try add small Outline with same color as yours shape.

Instead of trying to position the shapes so that their sides fit together accurately, why not simply overlay smaller shapes on top of larger ones? Your logo can be drawn as two overlapping, dark blue trapeziums with two shorter green trapeziums on top, and then a light blue rhombus (diamond) on top of that.

Thanks, that actually is probably the closest I can get to a "clean" solution, just need to have my layers in the right orders to avoid misalignment of the elements.

That doesn't work (easily) because it creates misalignments.

Any idea on the equilateral triangles with the pen tool?

I wouldn’t expect an equilateral triangle laboriously drawn with the Pen Tool to produce a better result than a three-sided regular polygon drawn with the Polygon Tool.

Fully agreed (and that was the way I did it before), but Affinity support through Messenger told me to do it this way. See above.

Now, I actually managed to do it with the pen tool, first using the shape tool to create a triangle, then using the pen tool and the snapping feature to recreate the triangle with it, but I was thinking that can't be the right solution, it is very cumbersome.

I´d go with three shapes overlapping&snapping; no gaps. :D

Me too, but ...

No "but" when he uses Grid&Snapping:

Thanks a lot gents, I'm learning a lot today and I think I have the solution.

I'll simply copy my initial shape over multiple layers and use the node tool to remove the parts of the shape I don't need. That will do. Thanks again!
