Pubcrawler Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 How do I designate whether Publisher or my printer handles colour management? I don't see an option in Publisher's dialog box for the app to do the job, although my printer allows me the option of letting the relevant app handle it — "Off (No Color Adjustment)". Epson's dialog box: InDesign's dialog box — "Let InDesign Determine Colors": I see nothing comparable in Publisher — but presumably it's there somewhere? Quote
Chris26 Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 Hi, you will find it in the print dialogue box in publisher as per screen shot under 'colour management' Quote Microsoft - Like entering your home and opening the stainless steel kitchen door, with a Popup: 'Do you really want to open this door'? Then looking for the dishwasher and finding it stored in the living room where you have to download a water supply from the app store, then you have to buy microsoft compliant soap, remove the carpet only to be told that it is glued to the floor.. Don't forget to make multiple copies of your front door key and post them to all who demand access to all the doors inside your home including the windows and outside shed. Apple - Like entering your home and opening the oak framed Kitchen door and finding the dishwasher right in front you ready to be switched on, soap supplied, and water that comes through a water softener. Ah the front door key is yours and it only needs to open the front door.
Pubcrawler Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Thanks for the reply, Chris26. My version of Publisher's print dialog box looks quite different. I see no mention of colour management. Quote
walt.farrell Posted June 26, 2019 Posted June 26, 2019 Perhaps you are on Mac, @Pubcrawler, and @Chris26 is on Windows? The printing support is different. Pubcrawler Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 That's possible, Walt. Although judging by Chris26's signature vis-a-vis Apple and Microsoft I would have thought otherwise! What I'm seeking though is standard Mac stuff. Strange that the printing support wouldn't be there. Quote

No you are right, I have publisher on a windows, unfortunately my Apple mac screen is beginning to go after 10 years of perfect use, also the software is 7 years old and never let me down not once. Money being tight, I was forced to opt for that cheapy 25% fat hamburger from the corner shop on gates street. Sorry for above mistake, I thought you were showing a printer dialogue, should have paid more attention. Pubcrawler Posted June 26, 2019 Author Posted June 26, 2019 Hi Chris26. No need for apologies! I was indeed showing the print dialog, as I believe you were in your Windows version. Quote

On Macs, the print options vary depending on what the printer & installed print driver for it support. That includes in which of the dropdown menu choices various options appear & how they are labeled. So for your printer you might find what you are looking for in the Color Matching section. For example, for an old Canon printer I have, that section looks like this: Choosing "Canon Color Matching" enables options in another section called "Color Options" that are supplied by the (ancient) Canon driver software for manual color adjustments. Choosing "ColorSync" instead disables the "Color Options" options & color management is then handled by application settings plus, via an "Other Profiles ..." option that replaces "Automatic," access to any ColorSync profiles installed on the Mac. The printer Owners Manual or User Guide supplied by the printer manufacturer usually includes info about these options, so it is best to consult that for the details. Pubcrawler Posted June 27, 2019 Author Posted June 27, 2019 Thanks, R C-R. For some reason I had switched at some point from ColorSync to Epson Controls Colors. I think that may be necessary for B&W printing. Anyway, ColorSync solved all my color problems. Epson also offers the chance to tweak manually — but I shudder at the amount of experimentation (and paper and ink consumption) that would take. I was down in Texas (from Alberta) a few weeks back. Really loved it. Particularly Marfa. Quote
