Scott Williams Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 I'm probably being thick here but I can't figure out how to set the stroke width for text. I can set the stroke colour by using the colour picker but I just can't see where to set the stroke width. I'm using 1.7.1.404 windows. Quote
PixelPest Posted June 25, 2019 Posted June 25, 2019 This feature went to ->Character->Decorations: Cheers Quote
Scott Williams Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Cheers PixelPest. Well that is a really crappy design move. Now I have to switch to the character panel to change the stroke. I'm sure people would be setting the stroke width more often than using many of the other items on the menu bar for the text tool. Quote

Scott Williams Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Where is the stroke panel - I'm using Affintiy Photo. Quote
Staff MEB Posted June 25, 2019 Staff Posted June 25, 2019 Affinity Photo doesn't have a stroke panel (only Designer). To change the width of the stroke either go to the Character panel as PixelPest suggested or with the text selected switch to the Shape or Pen Tools for example and adjust the width from the context toolbar popup. If you use stroke then you can use outline in the the layer effects to have an outline outside of the stroke. Quote

I'm afraid, if you want a true "stroke" you'll just have to get AD! AP is basically a photo editor and not really intended for fancy text effects etc. Quote Acer XC-895 : Windows 11 Home : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 – Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) – Also all apps on 12.9" (Second Generation) iPad Pro, OS Version 17.7.5 Old Lenovo laptop : Windows 10 - v1 and latest beta versions of all Affinity apps – Ancient Toshiba laptop: Vista - PagePlus X9, DrawPlus X8, PhotoPlus X8 etc

As Miguel has pointed out, the Pen Tool in APh gives you access to the stroke width control. 52 minutes ago, MEB said: Affinity Photo doesn't have a stroke panel (only Designer). (Although, I'm still not convinced that it's really needed in AP as well as AD/APub) Quote Acer XC-895 : Windows 11 Home : Core i5-10400 Hexa-core 2.90 GHz : 32GB RAM : Intel UHD Graphics 630 – Affinity Publisher 2 : Affinity Photo 2 : Affinity Designer 2 : (latest release versions) – Also all apps on 12.9" (Second Generation) iPad Pro, OS Version 17.7.5 Old Lenovo laptop : Windows 10 - v1 and latest beta versions of all Affinity apps – Ancient Toshiba laptop: Vista - PagePlus X9, DrawPlus X8, PhotoPlus X8 etc
Scott Williams Posted June 25, 2019 Author Posted June 25, 2019 Thanks for the answers guys. I still think it's a bit crap. Just put the stroke colour and control next to the font colour. It's not a big ask and it will stop people having to look for it. These types of quirky and awkward designs decisions can be really annoying and put people off. Quote
