Thanks for the Info, want to install it but I really need those 2 Affinity Apps to work lol

Specially the File Handling like DM1 mentioned is something I really looking forward too, guess I will be shaking a bit while inserting a USB Flashdrive.:9_innocent:

Some flash drives work some don’t that need a high current supply. Works great with an external verbatim media share device, created folders and copied files, photo and movie file direct over lightening to USB adapter. Also tried same on iphone 6 and iphone 7 worked perfectly. AP and AD seem to work fine, although have seen a few funnies in email and a few apps like the TSB banking app don’t work.

O.k. now I am surprised no crashes the whole evening. AP Apps run like on IOS 12.3.1  just the bug or flaw that when I paint over my 24MP Raw files, the strokes are super laggy. (I had that with 12.3 also)

My Lightning SD Card Adapter works and shows up in Files App. Thank you Apple, oh my gosh what a relief finally!!!! The only thing I noticed that a lot of Apps are not recognizing the external source. When I want import files and choose from "files" the SD Card Reader doesn't show up even in Apples own files App. External File Browsers dont recognize the reader also, but I am sure there will be updates coming soon.

One little thing bothers me, the App Store now shows the App Updates in a kinda weird form, no extra Icon anymore at the bottom, you have to press on your profile picture in the top right.

I would give it a go. For a first public beta it runs pretty smooth. :27_sunglasses:

Yes I think all apps are using a IOS12 library function that has not been updated yet to show the external drives. All apps will have to be updated to use the IOS13 library functions before they can start interacting with the external drives correctly.

Yes found app updates strange but getting used to it now, also the photos album has been completely revised, I am sure it will be better but i haven’t got used to that yet !

Indeed you are right so many awesome new additions. One little question, can you import brushes into the Affinity Apps Paul ?

Very stable on my oldest iPad Pro 12.9”.  Only issue for me is the Apple Pencil refuse to connect.  When will we see the new iPadOS feature support in Affinity Product?  Open and save directly from the external SSD is what I want.

No problems with my Apple Pencil, have you tried forgetting it and the pair it again?

Hmmm,  brush import fails for me on both AP and AD from iCloud.

Works fine, except that I can't seem to open my stored .afphoto files from the 'Documents' app. The names are there, together with the correct file size information, but there is no thumbprint image - and clicking on the name of the file has no effect (in ios12 this automatically opened the file in Affinity Photo).

Also for some reason the files are in an 'Affinity Designer' folder, not Affinity Photo as previously.

Any ideas?

Same issue when working on a new document/photo, then saving a copy - whether to the cloud or to iPad. The 'copy' cannot be opened by clicking on the file in 'Documents'. All files already open on the Affinity Photo Desktop (and saved to the AP memory?) open and close fine.

But if I can't access current .afphoto files, or save to Documents, I'm going to have to revert to ios12.

Am I missing something here? Is there any way of opening AP files stored as 'documents' (either on the iPad or in the Cloud) from within AP itself?

  • 3 weeks later...

I am on the second public beta on an iPad Pro first Gen 128MB.  Affinity is very buggy on this one. There are terrible lags when using the clone tool. I wouldn’t recommend testing the beta if you use your iPad for paid photo work. I have loved being able to connect hard drives and pull my photos off the drive to the internal memory without the need for the cloud.

I gave up in the end (no response to my queries of 2 July) and re-installed ios12. Shame because 13 is a vast improvement in so many respects - just completely unreliable and unusable (in my case) with Affinity Photo.

I'm not going to try it unless/until I'm absolutely certain that I can open and close .afphoto files ... anyone out there with experience of this?

It’s way too buggy, wait until another couple of releases of iPadOS13 and Affinity have been released.
