ericGa
The Swatchs palette should interact with every elements of the page. I can't apply colors to a frame text as I can to a rectangle or a picture box without going to the Text Frame window... Why not? affinity.mov

Because a text frame, different to a shape or image frame, can have 2 fill colors: one for the text (as it does now) and one for the frame (what you miss there). To enable an option for the frame fill (or stroke) within the Swatches Panel you would have to either click to choose text or frame color first or the window should have more color preview spots. Then the same additionally for the Colors Panel. Disadvantage: to set frame color you must open its panel window. Advantage: • if the Text Frame Panel remains open you can see both color preview spots at the same time and access each without further click. • you don't see double amount of color preview spots in the Swatches Panel which might confuse and result in mis-click. ericGa
Well, if I wanted to add a color to the text, I would rather select the text, not the Text frame. If the text frame is made out of paragraphs with different colors, I will have to select the text anyway.
thomaso
Yes. But since text within 1 frame is more often only 1 color and because text frames have more often No color therefore it is much more comfortable for average uses not to need to select the text with text tool but to be able to select simply the frame to set text color, possibly even together with other selected text frames with one click. Besides that, it is possible of course for faster use to save both, text color or text frame color, in styles.
