DM1
If I rename a file on the Home screen, the change is not reflected in Photo folder. If I rename and save from home screen, still no update or new file. If I open the renamed file and Save from Document menu, still no file name change in folder. Staff Chris B Posted June 25, 2019 Staff Share Posted June 25, 2019 Hey DM1, This is actually by design. We raised this internally when the iPad versions first came about. This is actually by design and the response given was: Quote The title of the document has nothing to do with the filename. Since we can group ours differently we cannot guarantee if a title is valid for where it could be stored. If a user wants to rename a file, they should do it in the File App - if it is an in-place file the link will be maintained. DM1
@Chris B Thanks Chris, Sean gave me a similar response in Designer thread. Worth noting though, that this decision means I can open from cloud, rename the document on the Home screen, (which changes the Home screen Document name only) and save. I now have an open file whose name no longer matches it’s Home screen Document icon name, even though the Home screen icon Save Menu is still saving Changes back to the original file. The document file management scheme is just a tad confusing, someone new to iOS will be totally confused. Quote M1 IPad Air 10.9/256GB lpadOS 17.1.1 Apple Pencil (2nd gen). Yes I think this is a mutual feeling. I'm not sure this is explained anywhere either DM1 1 Quote How to format a bug report | Learning Resources | List of V2 FAQs | YouTube Tutorials
