PdeP Posted June 21, 2019 Posted June 21, 2019 (edited) Hi guys - any helpful suggestions gratefully received. Here's the scenario: I use this excellent software to format print books. These can be printed in various sizes so I set up a master spread with a text box completely filling each left and right page of the spread. Then placing many pages of text into the first text box allows me to auto-create new spreads by shift-clicking the red overloaded symbol. Now here's the problem - all works well =except= it flows only into the left OR right pages, not both at the same time - which is what I need. In case you're wondering why I'm doing it this way, it's because it later allows me to alter all the page margins at once in the master pages which cascade throughout the regular pages, thereby allowing me to easily reformat a page for different book-sizes or margins without starting again and re-importing the content. I hope that's all a little clearer than mud Edited June 21, 2019 by PdeP rewording for clarity Quote
Dan C Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Hi PdeP, Welcome to the forums I'm relatively sure I have an understanding of your request. If you open your Master Spread, draw one text box on spread 1 and then use the Link icon to draw a second text box, linked to the first, on spread 2. Now open the first page your Master is applied to, select the first textbox and use File>Place to place your text. Shift click on the red symbol and you should find the text is overflowed to all pages as required, both the left and right side of the spread. I've attached a quick screen recording of this below, I hope it helps! Place multiple pages.mp4 Kabeljauws 1 Quote
Affinity-Inspiration Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 So the text frames have to be applied to the master, or simply to a page, like page 3 etc? Quote iPad Mini 6. 256GB. Dan C Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 If you want the text frames to automatically flow to new pages this will have to be set on the master page Quote
walt.farrell Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 It would work with a text frame drawn on a document page as long as facing pages are not used. Dan C Posted July 30, 2019 Posted July 30, 2019 I hadn't thought about not using facing pages, thanks Walt walt.farrell 1 Quote
