Purchased Affinity Publisher and want to activate via App Store

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to convert a purchased and downloaded version of Affinity Publisher to the downloable (and automatically installable) version of the Mac App Store? Others apps from other developers allow you to activate the App Store version...

No, you can't do that.

You could return the one you purchased from Serif for a refund, and repurchase from the MAS. To do that you would contact affinityreturns@serif.com via email.

Do you know if it's possible to go the other way? Purchase from Mac App Store or Microsoft Store and then get a download license to use from Serif?

The reason I ask is that the Capture One integration with Photo from the Microsoft Store is non-existent for me. Just the way UWP apps work where there isn't the command line arg support that you can get from the Serif download. Apparently this has a lot to do with the sandboxing of the store UWP apps.

No, that's not possible, either.

But someone may have an answer base on the suggestion you posted in your other topic. I've seen that discussed before, and solved without changes on the Affinity side.

By the way, when I mentioned this case to one of the Serif staff the other day, he commented that it could mean that the other application (Capture One) is not using the proper Windows API to invoke UWP programs. So you might also discuss this with the Capture One developers.

Thanks Walt. Most docs I've seen where one app can launch a UWP is through a protocol. But I'll keep digging. The only other idea I have right now is to call Invoke-Item on the images and then let Windows use it's supported mime-type mapping. Gonna give it a try.

The good news is that edit/open functionality in Capture One is done through a Plugin, and anyone can write a plugin.
