Images appear dark and saturated in the Develop Persona

Recommended Posts

Hi, Just updated to 1.7.1 for Windows and my images become very dark and saturated in the develop persona, before I've done any editing. I've checked that RGB 16 bit is selected in the develop assistant and 32 bit preview is unchecked in studio. This also occurred at my last upgrade to 1.7.0 but sorted itself when I reset the studio. If I edit and then develop the image it is overexposed and has weak saturation etc. I've been using Affinity for over two years now and haven't experienced this before. Any advice would be gratefully received.

Kind regards

Sandy Gilmour

Thanks for that, I used 2 sample D7200 RAW files from Photography Blog and tested these in both 1.6 & 1.7 in Affinity Photo on both Windows & Mac.

I opened the RAW file, made no changes and developed it, then exported it as a PNG. The resulting files all appear visually similar, with little to no difference in exposure or saturation.

I've attached a copy of the .zip below, here you can find the 2 RAW files I used, plus 8 exported PNGs with a code from the app and version number they came from - ie '16m' is version 1.6 for Mac and '17w' is version 1.7 for Windows.

Unfortunately this means I cannot replicate this issue currently, if you could provide some RAW files of your own I can try using these if you wish!

I appreciate your efforts.:) I don't think there is an issue with my RAW files, the first image shows the effect when I load an image into the Develop persona, and the seconds after I've pressed 'develop' without any editing. Also attached is a RAW .NEF file (DSC_2688) and a screenshot of the same image when loaded into the Develop persona. Thanks, Sandy

Apologies for the delayed response sandyg - I've figured out why your images are appearing like this in the develop persona. Please open a RAW file, then open the 32bit Preview Studio. Change the tick box option from Unmanaged to ICC Display Transform. Your RAW files should now preview correctly!
