Requested Features after official release

Recommended Posts

First I want to congratulate everyone in Serif for creating this awesome software and trio.

After being a user of the Publisher Beta and being active in this forum, I have collected a list of features that I need for my work (mostly book interior design) and some that others requested. I'm not saying that Serif should provide them in the near future, but I hope it helps them see what's needed and give an outline for other members of the community. And I hope affinity will release an official roadmap for Publisher soon.

  • Support for CTL: Complex Text Layout, Indic and RTL languages like Arabic and Hebrew
  • CJK: Vertical text and proper punctuation

As a long-standing Serif customer ( I think I started with PagePlus 2 or 3 after getting a trial version with PCPro  magazine) I've been following the progress of the new Affinity Suite with great interest, using Designer and Photo from shortly after their launch.  I've been trialling the Publisher beta during the last couple of days and am really impressed - can't wait to try the first release version tomorrow.

May I add a request for .ODT import for Publisher? Like many others since Microsoft Office went to a subscription pattern I have moved over to LibreOffice, and, although it will export into .DOCX format that nerfs any double column text frames I may have added to the document, and using a PDF import strips text flow and styles from the document.

Please, please keep up the fantastic work you've been doing :)
