Good morning,

I have tried to install the new version of Affinity Photo (1.7.1.). Unfortunately, the only option / button I get is "Update" (see screenshot) although I cannot find any Affinity Photo software, version, etc on the computer. As soon as I click "Update", another window pops up, saying that there is an "Invalid Path". I cannot install the programm.

I have changed a hard disk about a year ago due to technical issues but have uninstalled all old software.

How can I do a new, fresh, clean installation?

Thanks in advance for any advices!!!

I have the same problem as I have affinity installed on my E:\ drive by preference and not the local C:\ drive. As such I am unable to update; help!

That does not, in general, affect updating. That's the same setup I have, and updating works just fine.

The error message would be much more helpful if it reported the name of the path that the installer is trying to use, but the most common reason for this kind of problem seems to be the inclusion of spaces or non-Latin characters in the file name or folder path.

You may need to run Microsoft's install/uninstall repair tool.

But as @Alfred suggested, having the path name would be useful.

So, before running that tool:

  1. Press and hold the Windows key, then press R
  2. In the Run box that pops up, enter %temp%\AffinitySetup
  3. Press OK
  4. In the File Explorer, open the newest directory, where you should find SetupUI.log and Setup.log
  5. Open each in Notepad or other text editor, and search for the word Error.
  6. What is the full error message?

The link for the Uninstall troubleshooter from Microsoft does not work, it wont let me download it.

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

What release of Windows are you running, and what browser are you using? Have you tried a different browser to do the download?

When you say "it won't let me download it" what happens, exactly, when you try?

Hello,

Thank you, I have windows 10. I have tried downloading with Chrome, Edge, and Internet explorer. When I click the "Download" button the following error is displayed:

404 - File or directory not found.

The resource you are looking for might have been removed, had its name changed, or is temporarily unavailable.

Thanks for the additional informatiion. I see that, too.

I did some searching on the Microsoft support sites and found that others have the same problem.
